Most of us think that jumping a car during rain is the biggest stupidity one can do. We are grown with the concept that water is a good conductor of electricity and that’s why we consider jumping a car when it rains is not safe. But hold on, never conclude so early. Maybe you find it surprising or shocking but it is SAFE to jump a car while raining. All you need is to be a little more aware.
The batteries the car possesses are operated using 12 volt DC power which is a smaller amount to harm you. Whether it’s a sunny day or a rainy day you can jump in a car.
NOTE: take care that you have made the connections well. They must be connected firmly. Don’t connect the negative with the positive and vice versa. Otherwise, it can harm you a lot.
How is it safe to jump a car in the Rain?
According to the studies, we all know that water is the conducting element for heat and electricity. So, it is obvious to think that jumping a car while raining is a bad idea. However, this case is a bit different. The battery of a car runs on 12 volts that cannot harm you physically. So, if you jump your car during rain then it won’t harm you.
Scientifically humans can resist up to 10,000 ohms of resistance and the maximum current that can happen to us using a 12-volt battery will be
Current = volt/ resistance
Which is much lesser than the above data so need not worry. But make sure that you avoid the droplets to drop on the surface of the jumping wire and also keep a note of the thing that the positive end of the dead battery should be connected with the positive end of the good battery and vice versa. Make sure that the ground wire is also placed well.
