DEWALT DW735 Planer
DeWalt’s DW735 prides itself on its capability to handle thickness with ease. It’s bigger and heavier than the DW734. A lot of woodworkers who are experienced using this planer simply can’t deny the convenience it brings to their respective projects.
It’s available for purchase online and you can order it with just the planer. You can also purchase the planer with a stand or pair the planer with a set of replaceable knives instead. If you’re not sure whether this unit will suit you, some of its prized features are listed below

Equipped with a 3 Knife Cutter-Head
The 3 Knife Cutter-Head on this unit enables the planer to cut perfectly into boards of wood regardless of its age and type. The cutter head can produce about 10,000 rotations per minute that let it cut fast and smoothly through the wood, as well as almost any other material. With this amount of power, the service life of each knife is extended by up to 30%. It also has a motor capable of a powerful 15-amp 20,000 rotations per minute. This makes it easy for the DW735 to cut through wider objects.
Keeps Operation Clean
To keep your work free from messes and potential danger, the DW735 keeps the operation clean using its fan-assisted chip ejection vacuum. This sucks in any chips that may break off the plank once you feed it to the planer. The chips are then ejected from the machine through a dedicated exhaust.
Speed Control Available
The DW735 allows you to choose between 2 feed speeds. You can decide whether the cuts are better at either 96 or 179 PCI. There is also an automatic carriage lock that reduces the movements that cause chips and imperfections to the wood, without the user having to assist it.
Accurate Thickness Every Time
DeWalt’s DW375 is equipped with features that make sure you’re satisfied with every cut the machine makes. It has a material removal gauge that pushes the wood through the machine as well as an extra-large thickness scale. It also has an extra-large depth stop that allows the operator to go back and set the planer to the most recently used thickness without making too many adjustments.
PROS
- Smooth operation
- Built with fan-assisted ejection vacuum
CONS
- Does not come with feeding tables
DEWALT DW735x Planer
The DeWalt DW735X possesses similar features to that of the DeWalt DW735. It can produce 10,000 RPMs with its cutter head. It also has a 2-speed gearbox depending on how fast you want the material to feed into the machine. Just like the DW375, the DW735X lets you choose whether you want your cuts per inch at either 96 or 179.
This unit also has a 13-inch blade equipped to a motor that’s powerful enough to cut through almost any material. The knives are easy to replace and if you’re not sure how to do it, there is an instruction manual you can follow. Like the DW735, it also has the fan-assisted ejection vacuum feature that keeps chips and other debris from the machine to avoid clogging. Long work hours with this tool are also made easy with its turret depth-stop so you can return to your frequently used thickness almost immediately.
The only difference between the two is that the DW735 doesn’t come with in-feed and out-feed tables and extra knives, but the DW735x does.
